Current un-news

Yesterday, I received a series of e-mails from Xiaoqing with instructions and forms for the series of steps that follow receiving the Letter of Acceptance, LOA, from China. Our log in date for our dossier receipt in China was 5/19 and Xiaoqing says that current wait times for the LOA is 60 days. Everyone asks me when I am going to China. At this time, the best estimate would be September because once we get the LOA then we need to apply for Visas and send more paper work to US Immigration and then send that approval back to China. Then China will send approval for travel and we can make our consulate appointment. Every step takes one to two weeks.

I seriously need to start thinking about child care. John is thinking of changing shifts at work so we both work evenings. Then we would need childcare 40 hours a week, ugh. If John stays on the night shift perhaps he can change his hours from 10pm to midnight, since I get off at 11pm, and then I would just need childcare for the nights I am on call. But then, John would have to sleep in the morning and we would never see each other. I also need to go to HR and get my leave figured out.

To add to the insanity I'm considering applying to graduate school. Can I be a fairly new mom of a three year old and go to school?
